Pinsuti Chamber Choir was founded in 1997 and is a group of 24 local singers, directed by Robert Webb. We share a love of singing unaccompanied music from the 16th century to the present day, both sacred and secular. We take our name from the little-known Victorian composer Ciro Pinsuti. We perform 4 or 5 concerts each year in the Skipton and Ilkley area.

Musical Director

Robert is a Conductor, Composer, Trumpet player, Singer and Teacher from Leeds. He read Music at Merton College, Oxford, and was one of the first choral scholars in the new choral foundation under the direction of Peter Phillips (Tallis Scholars) and Ben Nicholas. Robert has conducted many choirs and taught in numerous schools in Leeds and West Yorkshire; he currently conducts Skipton Choral Society as well as Pinsuti, recently collaborating with the York Railway Institute Band on a world premiere transcription of Mozart’s Requiem for Brass Band and Choir. Robert teaches Singing and Trumpet and directs the Senior Chamber Choir at The Grammar School at Leeds. He also sings Baritone and Alto with the vocal ensemble North8 (north8choir.co.uk) and with the Bradford Cathedral Choir, where his eldest son is a chorister. In any (extremely limited) spare time, Robert plays trumpet and flugelhorn with the Brazilian fusion band Tempo Feliz, fanatically supports the San Francisco 49ers, and plays flag American football for the Leeds Samurai in the North of England Conference.
